A young family were seeking to take advantage of one of the few positive outcomes of the COVID-19 pandemic and expand their available working from home space away from the distractions of the main house.

The existing garage (constructed in prefabricated concrete panels on a flimsy timber frame) was to be knocked down and replaced with traditional double-skin masonry fabric that enabled a comfortable space to work in during summer and winter months. Rooflights allowed for optimal solar capture and additional glazed openings facing towards the house created passive observance over the rear garden play space - keeping an eye on any troublesome youngsters...
