This large double-storey extension was conceived to serve a growing family while minimising expenditure. Although conversations were held around the longevity of the ground floor layout, in the end a traditionally formal lounge/dining/living plan was adopted. The majority of the budget was utilised in providing two more bedrooms and a small WC allowing for the conversion of an existing bedroom to become a large family bathroom in a later phase.

The design demonstrates a conscientious approach to the neighbour's plot, setting back double-storey mass and adopting a roof structure that befits the local character of the region.
