We are pleased to share that construction has begun on our double-storey side extension in Kenilworth.

Construction kick-off for our substantial Kenilworth side extension project

This project has been a labour of love to date, going through an arduous planning approval process which involved a Green Belt designation across the site. The client have been exemplary in their patient approach and share our excitement in seeing activity start to take place after many months of anticipation.

Understanding the history of the home was crucial in obtaining approval and it's that same history which has also added further complications to this initial step in the build phase. The foundations have been excavated, revealing a substantial concrete structure, thought to be holding back rainwater below ground. MWArchitectural, the structural engineer, the Building Control Officer and the contractor all gave their view but its purpose and origin is unknown. As the wider site was associated with hunting facilities (before being converted to residential use in the 1980s), there may be some connection to that use.

Nevertheless, the design team and contractor have effectively come up with alternative solutions that minimise cost and delay - and the concrete for the foundations has now been poured.

We're very excited about this project and look forward to seeing it move towards completion later this year.
